Jember, NU Online – The students of Madrasah Aliyah ( MA) Unggulan Nuris Jember, Antirogo, Sumbersari District, Jember Regency, East Java, are not only great in the field of religion. However, they have also been able to win several competitions and excel in various fields such as poster design.
At least, this is what was shown by Nashru Dhiya Al-Haramain, a class of XI MA Unggulan Nuris Jember who won second champion in the National Poster Competition. The competition, which was held by the Wali Songo State Islamic University in Semarang, was attended by hundreds of participants from various Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia.
The event was held virtually at the end of October 2020, starting from the process of creating and submitting works to announcements. There are three chosen themes carried out by the organizing committee, namely the concept of a beautiful environment in the style of Islamic boarding schools, Islamic boarding schools in radical style, and Pesantren Sigap Corona.

“I chose theme number three (Pesantren Sigap Corona),” Nahsru told NU Online at the Nuris Islamic Boarding School complex, Antirogo, Sumbersari district, Jember Regency, East Java, Wednesday (18/11).
The poster design made by Nashru was entitled Santri Moving Corona Response. The poster depicts two hands supporting a globe which contains a human (santri) and a Corona virus “being”. The santri who wore masks managed to turn their backs on the Corona virus.
In the middle (between) the santri and the creature, there is someone who uses a complete health protective equipment (APK) looking forward while embracing the globe. Meanwhile, on the right and left of the globe there is a symbol for washing hands and keeping your distance, while at the bottom of the globe there is a mask symbol. “This means that masks are a very important factor to avoid Corona,” added Nashru.
According to him, the Corona virus, which until now is still growing, needs the participation of the entire community to prevent it. Because, Corona has become a national, even world plague. This means that if the elimination of Corona is only carried out by individuals, while others are ignorant, then transmission can still occur.
“That’s where the importance of all using health protocols. If only some people adhere to health protocols, while others do not, transmission cannot be prevented, “he explained.
He added that Islamic boarding schools with students and their caregivers have an important role to play in warding off the Corona virus. Pesantren in general have proven their ability to prevent Corona transmission, even though the students come from various regions. Not only that, pesantren caregivers and their ustadz can also increase public awareness of the importance of complying with health protocols.
“Pesantren, especially Nuris continue to move to get rid of the Corona virus,” he concluded.
